Title: Accounts Receivable Representative 

Employment Type: Internship - 4 Months

Hours: 8 hours between 8am and 4:30pm

Location: Hybrid in Montreal, QC (In-person Monday, Tuesday and Thursday)

Target Start Date: May 2024


About this Role: 


Essential Tasks - In this job, you will: 

  • Be responsible for overseeing a portfolio of clients and their payment status using Excel and CN’s internal systems
  • Monitor your inbox on Outlook to check for updates internally from managers or externally from customers
  • Export customer data from internal systems to Excel in order to identify any outstanding payments or errors in the statements
  • Reach out to customers to request payment or administer penalties for late payments
  • Escalate erroneous payment information to supervisors after communicating with customers

General Skills and Abilities - You are:

  • Demonstrate problem solving skills to address issues independently and reach out to your team for support when necessary
  • Communicate effectively both internally with your team for projects and externally with clients
  • be able to prioritize a variety of tasks at once in order to complete projects in your portfolio on time based on urgency and deadlines


Digital/Technical Skills & Tools - You are:

  • Basic skill level with the Microsoft Word, PowerPoint
  • Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Excel
  • Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Outlook

Required skill level*

  • Basic -  e.g., I can do this in simple situations with close or extensive guidance
  • Basic to Intermediate
  • Intermediate - e.g., I can do this in most situations, with occasional guidance
  • Intermediate to expert
  • Expert -  e.g., I can do this in exceptionally difficult situations with no guidance and I can be a key resource for others. 


Education/Knowledge - You:

  • Graduated within the last year or are in the process of completing a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or a related field
  • Must pass the CN accounting test as part of the application process
  • Nice to have (but not required):
    • The ability to communicate and understand French


Experience (Professional, Academic, Personal) - You:

  • Nice to have (but not required):
    • A background or interest in banking
    • A background or interest in customer service
    • A background or interest in computer systems
